Description
A foolproof, naturally thick, and luxuriously sweet blueberry jam recipe made with just 3 ingredients. No added pectin required—this traditional method brings out the best of fresh blueberries.
Ingredients
Scale
- 6 cups fresh blueberries (about 2 pounds)
- 1¼ to 1½ cups granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
Instructions
- Combine blueberries, lemon juice, and sugar in a heavy-bottomed pot.
- Gently crush about one-third of the berries with a potato masher to release juices.
- Place over medium heat, stirring until sugar dissolves completely.
- Increase heat and bring mixture to a rolling boil.
- Reduce to medium-low and simmer 20–30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Check readiness at 221°F or by plate test (wrinkle test).
- Remove from heat, skim foam, and allow to cool before storing.
Notes
Use a reliable thermometer for accuracy. Frozen blueberries can be substituted if thawed and macerated with lemon juice before cooking.
